Hope the link works. I could only get one shot as he buried himself
lickety split when the camera clicked.
It's hard to tel how big he is, so I will try to take more. The igloo
he's on is one of those ferret sized ones!! And he can barely fit thru
the door!!

He really does have such a sweet face. He's been here 2 days now & I
still well-up when I look at his sad little face. He'll come up to
sniff me and then lie down & put his head down & just look up at me...
I don't understand how anyone could be mean to him.

*Of course* I think they are the cutest rats in the world- but this
afternoon a tourist from NY offered me $50 for Jack! (she'd have
better luck buying my DH ;) ) After I said no, she offered to pay me
to stud him out in a few months! Apparently she's a breeder and Jack
has "perfect markings". My 5yr. old knows how to pick 'em!
Is this something people will actually pay money for? And my answer
was no, btw. I'm not going to offer up my sweet prince to some wacky
lady whose moralities I have no idea of!
Newport, where I live, is a very popular tourist trap in the summer.
My YS and I were walking our dog and the babies were in the pouch.
Jacks little face was sticking out- as he likes to sniff where we are
going. This lady actually stopped us on the side walk to ask me about
our rats. When Jack came out her eyes lit up and she asked to see his
belly. First she asked to hold him, but that wasn't going to happen on
a busy sidewalk. Phoenix was horrified that this lady might take his
babies!! She seemed annoyed when i told her that they are our pets and
we love them. Are rats with certain markings/colors worth money?
(perhaps I'm naive.)
I knew Jack is a blue self dumbo, but what makes that special? I tried
looking it up on the breeders/show list, but couldn't find much.

The really sought after rats are the ones with blazes, dumbo eared and rex.
But for a breeder to ask just any rat without knowing it's full history
and health is not much of a breeder at all. I'm so glad you said no!!

Oh she asked PLENTY of questions...
Although I agree with you- my guys are littermates from parents I know
nothing about. They were from an accidental litter, not a breeder, so
their temperment etc., is virtually unknown. Granted they are
friendly, sweet, well adjusted guys- but they are also only 9wks. old
(tomorrow). Jack and one other boy were the only ones like him out of
13 (all males). Their mom was friendly & curious...but again, how much
can you really know in one 30min. meeting?

Hey, we havent heard anything from you lately concerning how Ben is doing.
Is he still biting? How are the babies doing with him (if you have combined
them yet).
