Dylan's turn

Hi,

While Casey hasn't fully recovered from his sugery yet (he's doing fine
BTW), now apparently it was Dylan's turn. :-(

A week ago I discovered a lump on Dylan's right side, just before his hind
leg. It was already pretty big, so I took him to the vet that same day. I
agreed with the vet that the lump should be removed, and Wednesday I
returned Dylan to the vet's. Just before noon I got a call that the
operation was successful. However, I coudn't come to collect Dylan just yet,
because his temperature was still too low. Fortunately it rose again shortly
after, and just like Casey a month ago I took Dylan with me to work, so I
could monitor him carefully. When I got home I prepared my hospital cage for
him, where he will remain until he has recovered enough to be rejoined with
the others in the big cage. Friday the lab results for Dylan's tumour came
in. It was a benign mammary tumour, and it was removed complete, so Dylan
should be "clean" again. :-D

While doing that video I incidentally also shot some footage of Lefty (and
Casey):

Glad to hear Casey is doing ok and well wishes to Dylan, I hope he makes a
smooth and quick recovery.

I enjoyed watching your vids - loved the crashing sounds effects on the
second one, hehe!

I rarely hear of males getting benign mammary tumour and there you are
with two of them. :(
Are these little guys from a rattery? Have you let the breeder know?
I'm glad to read that he's doing great. Your rats are so gorgeous.

Only Dylan had a benign mammary tumour, wich indeed is rare for a boy.
Casey's tumour was malicious (I don't remember the exact type, but not a
mammary tumour for sure), but fortunately I haven't found any new lumps on
him so far. *fingers crossed*

Mind you, Casey's brother Chester has had a lipoma removed twice. But I
don't think there's a connection between any of these tumours.

Yes, they both are from the same rattery, in fact Dylan is Casey's nephew.
This rattery also runs a small ratty internet forum, through which I have
almost daily contact with the breeder.

Thank you. :-)

I hope Dylan is recovering nicely. It's fortunate that Dylan's tumour
was benign and that Casey is healthy.

I enjoyed that video BTW.
