I just got the boys out to spend some time with them coz they were
trashing their joint, and when I looked, looked at them I noticed that
they weren't 'babies' any more! They have apparently 'grown up'
overnight. Maybe someone swapped the babies for grown ups when I
wasn't looking.
They had to almost get in the soup I was having for dinner too. Seems
they like bacon and lentil soup.

These are 8 weeks old today. They still have that soft fuzzy baby look
about thier eyes. Its a bit harder to have them all perching on my
shoulders now.
Do boy babies generally eat more than girls at this age? even allowing
for the 3g/5b ratio (two are next door :s) the boys seem to devour
thier food in half the time that the girls do.

I haven't really noticed the boys eating more than the girls. I would
think it's about the same. Maybe it depends on what they are being fed?

Exactly the same thing. The girls *had* a 1.5 inch high soup bowls for
both wet and dry food, the boys a 2 inch high one, with the boys
getting a little bit extra for wet food, and by morning their wet food
is gone. Totally. None stashed. The dry food takes them about two/
three days to disappear. The girls on the other hand, would still have
wet food in the bowl the next morning. Could just be they
are ...were..fussier.

I must be in denial as I still call my 10 week old rats babies. I
guess my girls are officially women now as they were notably "frisky"
this weekend (the first time I've seen them act this way). The boys
are still dipsy and silly so the baby title continues to suit them. It
would be so nice if rats could stay in that popcorning stage for a lot
longer, it just came and went so quickly.
