The boys favorite thing is a toy boat that I picked up from the op
shop somewhere, like this one -

.
They look really cute when I put it back in thier house. All
clambering aboard and poking thier heads out of the port holes. As its
a toddlers toy the holes are just perfect for little..er...growing
ratties.

Christmas's favorite is paper. I have a pile of phone books here just
so she can shred them. Funnily enough, none of the boys seem to be
shredders.

Do your ratties have a favorite toy that they choose to play with over
everything else you provide?

cheers,
M&m

I used to have a "big yellow teapot" and a large double decker bus,
I got rid of them when Art and Tar lost interest in them.
I wish I had kept them now for Fhean , Doowie and Behn.
I'm off into town tomorrow, you've given me the notion to find them
something to play in.
Big plastic lego type bricks are great as well, I used to have loads
and built Art and Tar different things to play in.
Art and Tar prefer their cat beds now when they are out.

Check this one for an amazing house:

Couldn't think of a better use for it :-)

I used to go into charity shops and buy things for the rats - I have a boat
a bit like the one in the picture linked to further up the thread, I had a
big boot, a couple of little houses, a petrol station, a barbie car, and
all sorts of other stuff. You can pick up really sturdy plastic toys you
can use for rats in charity shops for a pound or two - but often if you
tell the person behind the till who it's for, they will sudder a lot! It
can take a bit of looking round, but I've seen loads of oys that would be
perect for rats in charity shops but haven't bought them because my big
plastic bin full of rat toys is full!

My rats always loved a box of tissues - the kind where when you pull out a
tissue another one magically appears in its place - and they can hide in
and destroy the box when they've finished the tissues, too :-)

A box of tissues is a great idea, I'm going to try that :-)

I haven't tried that yet...Christmas would most likely love it...dunno
about the boys. I got them come cane/wicker things today for 50c each
or something. They can chew them up to thier hearts content. Might try
the tissues when I think they are looking bored. :D

The 'babies' will be 13 weeks tomorrow, so from all accounts they will
'officially' be mine. Perhaps I should have a party ;)

Its very cute, but holy crap that's a lot of money.  I figured it out, and
its about $1200 in US dollars.  Way to much for any rat toy.  I could find so
many other things to do with that much money that they could enjoy just as
much!

When I was a wee boy with mice, I use to get them toys, and play with them.

one toy was a large boat, it had an electric out board motor and a water
pistol pump, was just the right size for mice to pilot, use to take them
down to a small creek and play with them in the water and sand dunes.

haven't done anything with my rats though, mind you, almost 20 years has
passed since then..
