She's looking very tired and not showing much interest in food. She has
always been a skinny girl, but she seems even more so now.

She's 19 months old.

At least she doesn't seem to be suffering. No porphyrin to be seen and
no bad attitude.

Was Daisy her cagemate? Maybe Cookie is grieving her passing. So sorry for
your loss.

Yes, they were cagemates. I doubt she's grieving. I'm not even sure she
really understand she's dead, as Daisy died outside of the cage.

Cookie still has Peach and Pinky for company.

I totaly disagree with you.  Back in 1998 my rat Zeppo really grieved
over my cavy Brock who died outside the cage.  Zeppo got really
depressed, stopped eating and plucked a chunk of hair from the top of
his head.

Zeppo had 7 other rats and 3 more cavies in the cage but he still
grieved.  At one point I thought I was going to lose him because he just
didn't seem interested in anything.

Well, it's looking worse now. There's porphyrin, her eyes are half-open
slits, and she's curled up in a fetal position most of the time. She's
rail thin, showing absolutely no interest in food, and isn't cleaning
herself.

I don't think she has much longer.

I'm afraid I agree with Jackie. My Smudge became very withdrawn when
Willow died - it was only when I got Peanut that she picked up and was
back to her old lively self. While your Cookie may have other rats for
company, that may not help her; they do grieve and pine.

Where I am (Australia) you can get this high energy food & vitamin
supplement from vets and pet stores called Nutrigel. Maybe you have
something similar where you are? This stuff is great for getting
sickly or skinny rats to put on weight. I mix a small amount in with
soy milk and give it to the rats almost everyday. It also makes their
fur soft and shiny and the rats absolutely love it.
