Tracey - 11 Oct 2007 11:13 GMT > Where's the best place to order one of these (the double one) in the UK? Had a quick look and found these that seem reasonably priced, compared to some places (some companies are charging up to £250!): http://tinyurl.com/2suc27 £158 - free delivery
http://tinyurl.com/2cyn47 £129.99 - there is a delivery charge, not sure how much though, they are based in Essex and website says: Delivery Costs - The total cost of each order will include a postage/delivery charge. The postage/delivery cost will be clearly shown before you commit to buying. Prices are Parcel Force costs based on the size & weight of the item if delivery address is outside are own delivery area or inside our delivery area and under £35 before VAT and delivery. The delivery cost in our delivery area is £2.35 for orders over £35 before VAT and delivery.
Hope this helps!

I had seen the one at £129 but they are out of stock until the 16th I have ordered the one at £158. This one is for Behn, Fhean and Doowie if it is as good as I think it will be I will get one for Art and Tar as well.

No problem! They do look like super cages - definitely a luxury appartment for your little ones :o) Oh yeah, I'm sure Art and Tar will soon be hankering after their own mansion when they spot Behn, Fhean & Doowie's (great names by the way!) new abode!

Scottish, Benhn, Fhean and Doowie have old traditional Galic names. I always try to choose names to match their characters :-)

Are you buying the 142 for 3 rats? Your rats are going to think they're in paradise!!! I love my FNs so much. I find it much easier to clean and move around. The rats are love the amount of space in them. I've got 10 ratties in one 142 and I've got 13 ratties in a 142 plus an additional level and I've got a single level FN with two rats. Those cages aren't for petite females or babies unless you modify them but since I do a lot of rescues of older rats, it works great for me. CongRATS!! to you and Behn, Fhean and Doowie!!:)

Behn, Fhean and Doowie are in a Ferplast Furet Tower at the moment and Art and Tar are in a Superpet Ferret Deluxe , If the ferret nation is as good as I think it will be I may replace Art and Tars cage with one as well.
Here's a link to the Furet Tower which I will be putting on ebay , it is as new plus I have made extra shelves and fitted hammocks. http://www.petcentreonline.co.uk/ecommerce/Scripts/prodView~idproduct~989.htm

Why are you replacing it? Another thing you could do with your 142, separate it into two. Three at the top and 2 at the bottom.

I've considered splitting the top and bottom of the 142, the guys are all used to tons of space though, I ordered one to start with so I can explore the possabilities of doing that. After the night all my poor boys have had they would prefer a sound proof cage, we had a power cut for almost 3 hours, the back up battery in my security alarm is flat and I could not turn off the sound as there was no power to the panel. Power is back on now but not very stable, things keep flickering. The guy from Scottish power has said if it goes again he will not come back until tomorrow as he is afraid to work in this area :-(

When I first read this I though you meant petite female people! Clearly it's too early on a Sunday morning for my poor brain. ;)

Delivery for that item to the north east of England is only £3.99 :)
Very nice cage - I've just been looking at Mandie's photos. I love the doors - that should let one sneak a few pics of the guys in their cage without disturbing them too much; something we can't do with a Super ferret deluxe.
What finish do the cage panels have? Our existing cage is I think plasti-coated & this wears off where there's rubbing on door hinges & latches, leading to rusting.
How about bar spacing? I know one can find quoted figures, but it's never obvious if this is the distance from one bar to the next or of the gap between the bars - any chance an owner could post the gap size?
One thing that concerns me is the amount of shelving. The Super Ferret has nine shelves each covering a third of the floorspace, which gives lots of levels & hidey spaces. Can one get extra shelving or has anyone made their own?
How about climbing the walls? Our guys don't have ramps unless we have an elderly girl in the cage. They love scaling the walls. The FN mesh is a vertical rectangular arrangement, rather than square or horizontal. Is it still climbable?
Hmm, we also use cardboard bedding - little squares of corrugated card. Looks like that's spill out; not sure what we could do about that.
Oh, just noticed that Berriwood (the cheaper of the 2 above) also have the add on level at £67, so one could get a three tier cage for just under £200 :-)
Anyone here owned both the Ferret Nation & the Super Pet Ferret Deluxe? How do they compare?
shpams@gmail.com - 22 Oct 2007 20:50 GMT > >> Where's the best place to order one of these (the double one) in the UK? > [quoted text clipped - 45 lines] > Anyone here owned both theFerretNation& the Super PetFerretDeluxe? > How do they compare? I have the super pet delux and the ferret nation. I am thinking of getting another ferret nation to replace the superpet one. While the superpet is great I am getting concerned that if anything was to happen to any of my two elderly boys it would take me longer to get to them. The sections with the big doors are fine but the sections with the smaller side doors are hard to access, that means Art and Tar have to come to meet me at a large door section. Tars back legs are getting really bad now , he seems to be dragging his feet behind him alot of the time and the ferret nation would be easier for him to navigate (with a few modifications such as wooden stairs) My young rats have no problem climbing around in their ferret nation. The b ar spacing is a just tiny bit wider than in the superpet delux, my smallest is 16wks old and he cannot get out (close though). You could use a big cat litter tray to stop overspill, mine are getting close to being litter trained but "accidents" are easy to clean as cage access is brilliant. Given the choice between the superpet delux and the ferret nation I definatly prefer the ferret nation. The build quality is far better.

It's hard to tell from most pictures but I did get the impression build quality is more solid. So can your youngsters actually climb the walls or did you just mean they use the internal fittings to climb?
Scritches to Tar.

Poor Tars legs are worse . His bedding was soaking when I got home. I gave him huge hugs and cleaned him up and then the cage. He still loves being out and really enjoyed being brushed tonight. I am going to make an appointment at the vets when they open incase he has a bladder infection as his urine is quite strong. I added more shelves as steps in the superpet cage to try and help him get around. I will get another two water bottles so there is water on all 4 levels. He doesn't have much of an appetite either, that's really not like Tar.
