... from her girl parts. I am aware that this is not good, though at
her age (2yrs) I am not going to get her spayed. She is on antibiotics
already, so I don't think taking her to the vet for them is going to
be a good use of money. Other than the intermittent bleeding, she
seems in fine health, active, eating, though she has a funny waddling
gait now. Never having had an older rat I am not sure what is age and
what isn't. She is the oldest, next in line is Barkley at 1yr.

if she was younger i'd say get her checked out right away. but at 2, and
this is just me, i would tend to try to make her comfortable. have you tried
picking her up and touching and gently poking her to see if she squeaks when
you touch certain areas? tumors are always a concern.

Yes, I check her a few times a day. I only feel lumps down at the
entrance. Its not poo I don't think. The rest of her tummy is flabby.
She doesn't squeak or indicate she is in pain. Yesterday we spent the
day curled up on the couch together.

maybe joanne had a point there about the meds. i don't know much about meds
and their reactions in rats so i couldn't be of much service.

Sorry, I didn't reply sooner. Doxy is quite mild for a med. I would try
Baytril and see if that helps.

She hasn't bled at all for the last five days or so, her eyes are
getting pink again (they were..uh..orange?) and she is climbing up and
down lots more. When she is bleeding she seems reluctant to climb more
than the level in the top cage. (The girls have two, one on top of the
other. The bottom one had wider bar spacing and isn't female rat
proof. The top one is the secure one. )
