Poor Tar, his tumour under his front leg is growing quite rapidly now and i
can feel another one not far from it and a small at his abdomen.
His hind leg paralysis is no better, the paralysis was one of the reasons I
decided not to have the tumour removed as he would have been
very restricted with having an op at his front leg and not being able to use
his back legs. The other reason I chose not to have the op was
the biopsy results from his brothers tumour showed his was cancerous so Tars
most likely is too and would have grown back.
He is still eating, though not as much now and still enjoys his cuddles. He
has a nose bleed earlier, it was definatly blood and started while
he was on the couch beside me. I don't feel it is worth causing him stress
by taking him to the vet as the vet told me some time ago there was
no more he could do for him. I'm taking things day by day and making sure he
still enjoys life. Tonight the sparkle in his eyes was not as bright as
normal but he still wanted choccie drops (I've dropped his healthy diet now)
and cuddles.
I gave him his christmas stuff last week , but I really hope I get to give
him a second lot when christmas arrives.

For a sick rat, high calorie "naughty" foods are a healthy diet. :-) I'm
glad Tar's still enjoying treats and being with you, and I hope he makes it
through to Christmas. Give him a hug from me.

Best of luck to you and Tar. It is the hardest thing to love rats
because of their short little lives. You are a good mom.

Please give some extra cuddles to Tar for me. I hope he is comfy and
doing as best he can. At least he can still enjoy his treats. I agree
with Marlo, you are a very good ratty mum.

Thanks everyone. Tar had loads of cuddles earlier, we had a great grooming
session,
he made sure my hands were groomed just right :-)
He had watermelon, choccie drops, yoghurt, a bit of cooked pasta and a big
chunk of
custard cream biscuit. Every day with him is special and he gets to eat
anything he wants.
He is sleeping now as he tires easy. He did chew the fleece out of his cosy
igloo earlier
to try and build a wall, I'm at the stage where seeing him wrecking his cage
makes me happy
that he can do it.
He is confined to the couch and bed when he is out now as I am afraid he
will get carpet
burns on the tumour area as it drags when he is walking as does his back
legs :-(
He had a soft baby blanket covering the whole floor area of his cage.

I was thinking silk fabric might be easier on his tumor area.
If you can go to a thrift shop and look for old 100% silk
shirts it might offer a bit of comfort to him.
