:-D I've heard sometimes they can use the phantom limb thing to help in
the process of getting used to a prosthetic limb., so what you said makes
perfect sense to me.

That's great! I guess it's lucky that most rats seem to ignore their
tails nost of the time - although it does mean they never get cleaned
(shudder).

There is a solution once your ratties grow up...though I think
starting to train them early helps a bit. Everybody takes a bath
together! Rats you, maybe some tub toys for them to climb on. Helps if
you remember to use an emery board on their nails though.

about once a week my little friends get tossed into the bath bucket for some
swimming and shampoo. they're not crazy about it but they have had to do it
since infancy so they put up with it. treats always follow.

I wash my guys fairly regularly, but one of them always squeaks loudly and
piteously from the time he's brought anywhere near the water to the time
he's finished being towelled. He's such a whinger - I've never heard
anything like it before in my life.

Ah but it seems to be confidence inspiring to the ratties if you are
in there with them! Tub time is fun...and you really need to trim
those toes before going in. 8^)
