Is everyone okay? I know at least a couple of you are in the Southern
California area...... at least one in San Diego. I'm in San Diego
myself and am getting ashes all over the place but luckily, no fires in
my area as of yet. Does anyone need anything? Are your families and
pets okay?

all i can say is, WATER EVERYTHING if youre close to the ash. if your yard
is damp, its harder to burn ;)

We're getting ash, but so far, are still too far away to get any hot
embers in our area. :-\

It must be so scary for you right now... I just can't get over all the fires and how much devastation there is. Some people only had 5 minutes for evacuation... what do people do with their pets?

Most shelters that have been set up are allowing pets. The news this
morning has said that Petco and Petsmart have visited the shelter at
Qualcomm Stadium to donate some pet supplies but they are asking for
donations for more pet supplies, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. It is
very devastating to see all these places burning on the news and know
that, at some point, it could be close enough to us to cause us to
evacuate.

We're here in the San Diego area and we've made it through the night thankfully. We could see the fire about five miles away on a hillside last night moving towards us, but there haven't been any evacuations ordered for my area yet. Our car is packed and ready to go if we do have to leave. It looks like something after a nuclear war this morning though. The sky's glowing an orangish yellow and it's smoky. Very eerie. There's ash everywhere and my house smells like we've had a fire going in the fireplace for 2 days. But we're fine and I'm glad to hear everyone here is fine so far. Good luck and stay safe.

I'm in Phoenix, AZ, just a few hours away by car. Is everyone managing OK
in California, or can I help in some way?

MY thoughts and prayers go out to all of you in California. I hope everyone
is okay and safe. I have a brother-in-law and sister-in-law in the southern
Cal area. We have not heard from them yet. I'm not sure how close or far
they are from the fires. They are in Lake Forest.

Lake Forest is about 78 miles N-NW of San Diego. I will keep them in my
thoughts and hope that the fires don't spread that far. The ash has
been lighter here in the Pt. Loma area tonight but the winds have picked
up a little which is NEVER a good thing with fires in the area. Hope
everyone is doing okay. Good luck to all in the area of any of the fires.

I've been reading about the fires here in England in the newspaper and saw the devastation on the news last night - it's terrible. Glad to hear everyone is okay, and hoping that you, your family, pets and homes all continue to stay safe. My thoughts are with you at this worrying time.
