I should just start calling 'Hey'--'Theif'--thats what she is, and she's
good at it.

After her mornin shoulder ride to the laundry room and the dumpster, (2 am),
I put her on the desk when I get online.  I have this one thin plank of
pressed board that she never crosses but she does now---to get my salted
pistachios.

I never see her do it, but she managed to get 5 of them from the bag ...all
the way to the other side of the desk without me seeing it.

she seems to like the salt as she spends a lot of time licking the shells
before she opens them.  I'm thinking that this is prolly bad for her since
she started making a huffing sound and her stomach area was
contracting---akin to a human dry heave.

after I saw this--I hid my pistachios on the monitor.  I knew that salt was
vital, but after seeing that and her BIG thirst for water afterward...i
think i need to get a salt wheel/salt lick.

I need to get her another desk of her own---she even knows how to tilt the
beer can just right so all the drops in the gully flow down to her without
tipping the can, as she used to do.

Rats don't need salt in their diet and I wouldn't bother with a salt wheel
either.
Sounds like Hey is having a great time... and she will definitely benefit
your quitting smoking as will you. Funny how we do things for our ratties
before our own health...lol. After many years of hounding my mom to quit or
at least reduce smoking, she's finally cut back big time but only because
she won't harm her ratties. lol
By the way, any luck finding a buddy for Hey?
