Hello, I have a pair of Ratties.. Howie and Chuckie.. Obviously males..
Father and son to be exact.. We got these fellows as a gift from a friend
shortly after Angel, our wonderful PetCo girl died.. ( I think she was
around 3 monthes and had a serious infection ) . Made me cry and my girl
bawl.. Anyways, the choise of  a rat was made because I had some expieriance
as a younger fellow.. My father had an affection for PEW's and we had many
of them..  But not quite like the Angel we had... She chose us instead of us
choosing her.. Never had I expierianced a rattie express and sense of
kindness and affection by giving kisses.. First time out of 30 or 40
ratties.. Now the boys don't show this kind of affection, but Howard was
alsways friendly while Chuck has always been more shy and reluctant..  The
odd thing about Chuck i that he seems to have a slightly larger eye than the
other one.. Is this a deformaty?  I think it is because we have had the
fellows for almost a year and it has yet changed.. ( Howard has a brown hood
and cape with a creamy off white coat, and Chuck has a tan hood and cape
with an off white coat.. I think these fellows are rat(ther) common..) They
have a sweet tooth for yogert treats, and thier bedding is Aspen.. I will
check back here from time to time.. Best wishes for the ratters..

Welcome to the group, My two Ratties "Wallace and Gromit" only joined
a couple of weeks ago and have gleaned a wealth of useful information
from it.
Not too sure about your choice of names though, Chuckie is a bit of a
doubtful choice, but Howard is absolutely brilliant, guess what my
name is? lol

Hi and welcome to the group from me and my rats Bodie and Setsuko!
You'll get lots of information here.. more things about rats then you
ever thought you wanted to know!
About Chuckies eye: if it's appearance has changed, I would definitely
go see a vet. Just to be sure.

Welcome Tim and Howie and Chuckie!!

As for the eyes... if it's ever so slight, then I wouldn't worry about it,
but if the bigger eye keeps getting bigger, then it could be an indication
of a tumor.
Stick around, we love rattie owners and their pets!!!

Thank you Ladies and Gents for the welcome..  I am in the High Desert of
California.. The city I am from even got mentioned in the Terminator3 ..
Victimville ... errr make that Victor.. Ah well C'est La Vie..

As far as Chuckies eyes, it has stayed consitant from the time my wife and I
picked him and his Pops up..  Never really seems to get worse.. Although
found out recently thier sister/daughter was sent to the Rainbow bridge.
Apparently she had a life threatning infection that over whelmed her..

Besides the rats I also have/had numerous fish tanks up.. Right now it is
mainly Malawi's and Guppies , but we recently adopted a few wild lizards as
well.. Little fellers bout near ended up in the fire place, if I didn't pull
the bark of the wood they surely would have parished.. Until spring rolls
around I guess we have adopted them as well..  Also have a two pooches..  So
don't hop my fence...

I have been close to Holland. ( sort of, and thank you for the wonderful
tulips ). Lived in the southern part of Germany for a while.. The town of
Lahr..  Actually meet a few fellows last summer from Holland as well, seems
they had a flavour for Starbucks... There is now one located right by the
freeway.. BTW I am a transplant to California.. I am a Canadian..
