My beautiful sweet Benny boy decided to leave me tonight. At 6:10PM Benny lost the fight with terminal lung disease. He was a brave boy and he fought hard, but in the end, he was too tired to go on. He goes home with a big piece of my heart, he leaves me with tears on my cheeks and a hole in my soul. He was almost 27 months old... he leaves behind his brother Russo, now the only survivor from my original four. In his strong days, he was alpha, the strong one but he ruled fair, never hurt anyone. He was an explorer, always on the go, on a mission to see how far he can push. He was strong, he was brave, he was beautiful and he was mine... I love you Benny, go and play with all the other rats at the bridge, while you wait for me, I'll be here missing you... I'm so sorry. I seldom respond to these kinds of posts, simply because I don't know what to say really. I guess you know already that time does heal, eventually, and to feel blessed for the time you were able to have with such a wonderful creature. Well, obviously, I still have trouble finding words for such a situation. Just know that there are others out here who feel for you. It's never easy, but hopefully the happy memories you have of Benny will help you and your loved ones through this difficult time. They are such heartbreakers aren't they? Little animals with such great big personalities...it hurts so much to lose them but you know you will one day see them again. Much love to you and Benny. He is waiting just a thought away ............. He looks so much like my Ben. He is my 1st rescue rat and I have no idea how old he is. I know he is getting more and more of an old man every day.
