hey all,  went to 2 wal-marts lookin for pickling lime -did'nt have
it, workers don't know about it. i read a post a few wks. ago you could
find this stuff at a major store like walmart, any other place i could
look. i'm spendin 45.00 bucks with shippin for the 4.4 lb. bucket from
foster&smith. want to save some $. 2 more questions---what is pickling
lime for again ?( i forgot ). also is builders lime good to make kalk or
is it not pure enough to add to a tank?  btw>>>i'm in NY so if there are
any NY reefers out there that could help--great.
thanks all

Apparently there are reefers in Australia that are currently using builders
lime for Kalkwasser with no ill effects! BUT, it might be a different
product from what you are able to get. Go over to rec.aquaria.marine.reefs
for more detailed info. I see no problem with it...
Sometimes this product is also referred to as Slaked Lime. HTH

Yeah Heaps of Aussies use the builders lime.
It seems to be good.
Give it a go.
