Hi there,

Here goes... I just set up my 50Gal marine tank with a UGF as per book
said. I also have fitted a wet and dry Ehiem filter and a activated
carbon canister filter. All my reading are fine at the moment and I
have inverts in there at the moment. It has been up and running for
almost two months now but people are now saying I should remove the
UGF???

I dont know what to do now... should I remove it now before more dirt
collects under the filter or just leave it in?

If I take it out will I cause a massive ammonia/Nitrite spike? I do
not have another tank to house my inverts whilst doing this.

Any help would be appreciated.

PS does anyone know of a good anemone for my two clownfishes?

if the eheim is going then yank it now, try pulling 1/2 today, and the other 1/2 say next
week ish let the dust storm settle, and measure #'s then yank.

If you don't want to disturb your tank, you could remove the riser tubs and cap
the small openings, until you are ready to remove it.  I didn't remove mine for
a long time, but one day I had new carpeting installed, and it gave me the
excuse to remove my UGF.

What type of substrate do you have now?  sand?  crushed coral?

What kind of lighting, and how many watts do you have?  What type of clownfish
are they?
