Well,

I`m happy to say that over 54 hours after writing off the sucker, my little
red scooter blenny is back chomping pods off my live rock.

I guess he was pretty scared by that last water change and "laid low" for a
while.

Thanks for all the tips---I`ll be less disruptive next time.

Good deal.  My Maroon clown once disappeared for almost 2 weeks, but he
returned like nothing had happened.

Hello Stringerbell,

I am very glad to hear that your fish has returned, and is well. As
other posters have said, some fish disappear for weeks, only to
reappear as if nothing had happened. I have a dwarf wrasse that gets
bullied by another wrasse, and disappeared for weeks, only to reappear
a lot thinner and very hungry. The aggression is probably down to
hormone cycles of the larger fish, which kick-in every few months.

Happy days,                Fishnut.
