I have a nice tank now, some red guppies, blue guppies, 15 or so cardinals,
4 blue discus, 4 red pidgeon discus, 4 silver dollars, 8 black / marbled
angels, assorted smaller coloured fishes, plecos.

Trouble is, the tank looks a bit drab nd I am sure it ought to possible to
brighten the colours a bit.  I currently have a green back to the tank
(paper outside) and a single strip light.

Would a UV light strip do any good or just blind the fish?

What would be good?

I find a dark substrate such as black quartz or sand plus moving the
tube(s) to the front of the tank improves the colours of the fish.
Spotlights instead of tubes can also give a good effect.
