Hello all again :-)

I am having problems keeping the Nitrite levels low at the moment.  I think
it is due to adding too many fish at once on the 24th Jan '04.

Here is a link to the tank readings (in Excel format):

http://www.hurrikane.fsnet.co.uk/readings/Tank%20Readings.xls

You can click on the dates & then see the comments if you hover over the
little red triangles.  I thought it would be easier that way, than to try &
write down everything.

I have turned the heater down a few degrees, as I have heard that heat
effects the readings sometimes.

After introducing all the fish at once, we have sadly lost one Platy, but
all the other fish seem fine - have I got anything to worry about ?  Do you
think doing a 50% water change at a time is too much, & I am hoovering the
gravel each time I do the water changes.

Seems like its all going off at once - spikes in Ammonia, Nitrite AND
Nitrate

All three are too high - you need to change some water to bring them down a
fair bit - halve all of them at least.

To be honest your readings are bit unusual - you wouldn't expect to see that
much Nitrate this early.

How big is the tank?

I.
