Hi all
Has anyone used www.java-plants.com  and if you did, what did you think ?

I'm swithering between a 48" tank collection, or a 10 potted plant
collection.
I'd really like one of those Java Fren Coconut caves too, but they're not on
the webpage, just in the PF ads.

Service is good and does everything they say in their ad.  Can't
remember offhand the collection which I bought but it was more than
adequate for my tank.  I will happily use them again in the future.

Thanks guys.

It's alright for you Sandy, you have a tropical microclimate over on
Cumbrae. You could use pond plants
Here in Gourock there are still penguins and polar bears ;-)

Have to respond with a rare negative, I'm afraid.

They only sent half my order with a promise to complete, but never did
despite repeated e-mails.

Perhaps I'm just unlucky?

Me too.

I ordered a pile of specific plants (results of about 3 nights
reading.......).

Invoice came back saying something like "no longer stocked - please advise."
I had been charged for it,  IIRC.  I emailed and phoned but no refund or my
alternative.

Looks as though they are ok for THEIR selection which they can modify if
they run out of specific items?

I have used them three times now.
Their discount/budget collection (no longer available)
was perfect for filling a six foot tank.

I have mixed feelings. I have ordered the collections, taking over
a week to arrive (I was hoping for next day!) and in one case when
I chased it I was told "oh, we don't do deliveries over easter" and
it took TWO weeks.

The quality was pretty good, although some of them were only semi-aquatics
and soon rotted.

They are good value, but very slow, and chuck anything they send
you that's variegated.

I might use them again if I was not too fussed about time, purely
because you get so much for your money. I'd order more than I wanted
and then chuck half.

Used http://www.tropical-aquarium-plants.co.uk/ found him on fleabay, but
very good value.
Read his T&C because he only works Mon-Fri and posts once per week etc.

They list plants for different pH ranges including some alkaline
conditions. Such plants should do well in my Tanganyika cichlid tank
so I just ordered some.

Let me know what they're like when you get them.
I've ordered some Salvinia Natens (need them for the pond), and a 48"
tropical collection from the previous poster's suggestion
www.tropical-aquarium-plants.co.uk to see what they're like.

I'll report back :-)

Hello,

The plants arrived today. They are all fairly good apart from two of
the Rorippa aquatica but that was compensated by sending twice as many
as I ordered.

Sounds good :-)
I'm still waiting for mine.
Hopefully tomorrow.

I think I said in the origional mention of the site,
the owner is a hobbyist(?) who works a very short quiet week
posting out on Wednesday, looking for a Thursday delivery.
So not recommended if you are in a desparate rush.

I bought on a Friday, but expected the delay in delivery.

hope your plants arrive tomorrow and are as good as expected

Hi Dave
Nothing so far

Though the last email I had said the plants would be posted no later than
28/3, I didn't take the one day strike into account either.

Did you have an email saying your plants had been despatched ?

Yes, I did.
But  I originally found the store through eBay and
was using Nectar points gateway and a paypal coupon
so I had eBay correspondence. Possibly easier to manage
than from his website.

Hmmm.
I think I may drop them an email just in case they're sitting in the PO
sorting office.
