My lights keep shutting off. Unplugging & reconnecting gets a few
seconds then pop!

My guess is that its a dead tube or bad seals but what do I know?

Any Advice?

Hi Campbell,
Sounds like it could be  your starter unit is on its way out, or possibly
moisture is manging to get into  end caps  but could also be your tube
going,
A simple test is to switch your lights on  and observe  the starting unit if
it keeps flickering  then twist it as though you were going  to remove it ,
this sometimes allows the lights to stay on ,  if that doesnt work  then
would look at end caps to see if they are ok.
Hope this helps
Andy

I had an issue where one end of my Jewel lights fell into the water for a
while and had exactly the same symptoms you describe.

Basically I slightly opened one end of the "solid bar" containing the
electronics, propped open with a bit of wood and left in the airing cupboard
a day or two. Sealed using hot glue gun and black aquarium silicone and
lights have been fine for last two years. I always keep my old tubes after
changing every year (my algae starts up after a year indicating new tubes
needed) so they can be used to verify the unit is still working.

mmm food for thought - the juwel unit has no visable starter

thanks

the juwel lighting uses an electroinc balast therefore no "starter". if it
fails it is not repairable. they introduced a 2 year warrantly on their
tanks about 2 yrs ago so might be worth checking the age of your tank.

i recently had the problem you described & it turned out to be a faulty unit
which was less thena 1 yr old & my supplier replaced it under warrantly.

sky.
