I have a dachshund and a lab mix who are both six years old. At
what age should I start feeding them senior food.

Thanks in advance.

........AFAIC never.  Senior food is a marketing tool.

Whether it's just marketing or not, six years is definitely too young for a
dachshund or lab mix to be considered seniors.  The dachshund isn't "old"
until 12 or so, and the lab mix probably not until 10.  It varies a lot, of
course, but six isn't "senior" unless maybe we're talking about some of the
giant breeds.

I am very glad to hear both of these points of view!  I would be happy never
to change the food. P

Boy, that's a good question.   I have 2 lab mixes and feed Solid Gold and
lots of fresh veggies and fruits.  I ask vet allthe time if it is
"time" --they are both 7 1/2 at least and she says nope they look great.  So
I don't know how people tell.  They have the usual problems of active
running dogs but no serious disease/illness.  They look great and feel great
till they crash into something or smash down on something or eat/sniff
something bad. P
