Skin infection

My Yorkie has had a skin infection on her back for the past 2 months.  She
was perfectly healthy, then went to the groomer (but I'm not sure this was the
cause).  She then developed what looked like a bad bite on her back which had a
scab, and then pustules started popping up nearby, and spread from there.  She
has had 7 weeks of Clavamox, 1 week of Dicural, then was off meds as the skin
(supposedly) was clear, then the infection re-appeared and she is now on
Dicural again.  This seems to me to be a resistant Staph or something.  What is
the best antibiotic for skin infections in what dosages?  I will suggest
anything to my Vet.  Should I take her to a specialist?  I will do anything to
rid her of this.  Pepper1960@aol.com

Not a bad idea.

.....yes, or something.  Has the vet done any skin scrapings?  There's not
much percentage in guessing, as without a diagnosis you're shooting in the
dark.  I thought with Staph the dog had to be on long term meds too.  He
just may have stopped too soon.
