Do not give ibuprofen to your dog. Even small doses can give dogs ulcers.
From what I've heard ibuprofen is about the worst human painkiller that you
can give to dogs.
If you beleive your dog is in a lot of pain, take him to a vet. If you think
it will take a long time before you can get the dog to a vet, call and ask
for a prescription for an appropriate painkiller for dogs.
Whenever you are thinking of giving your dog any medication, and you aren't
sure what and how much, _always_ call a vet first and ask what to give, and
how much.

www.vetinfo.com discusses aspirin, tylenol, ibuprofen, etc.
Why is your dog in pain?  You don't want to try to cover a serious problem
up.
You can safely give an aspirin dosed according to the dogs weight.... always
give with food.  Same with all nsaids, humans and animals.
Etodolac is a good nsaid that has fewer gi side effects (aka Lodine) but you
have to get it from your vet.
I've given aspirin, etodolac, and vicodin which is hydrocodone/tylenol.  My
dog was a labrador about 70 lbs.
