Why don't you talk to your neighbors, let them know what you are trying
to accomplish, and ask if they would help you out by keeping their cats
in for a few nights, say, after 10pm. The best time to trap ferals is
late at night anyway. Otherwise, get a few more traps and if the wrong
cat gets caught you can just rebait and reset right away. I've had this
problem once in awhile, too, but I just kept at it even if it meant
resetting the traps a few times in one night, and I did get the right
cat eventually.

"Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one
elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and
splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then
providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and
material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his
way."
