sounds like an intestinal parasite. my dogs have had several each. i'd
bring the dogs, and poop samples (yes it's gross, i double bag with a zip
loc) into your vet to test. dogs can get lots of nasty bugs from drinking
dirty water, so if your dogs are drinking from puddles or outside water
dishes, that may be where this is coming from.
but whatever it is, definitely go to the vet with some poop! :-)

I second everything Kelly wrote. One addition - depending upon
the vet, you may have to ask specifically for a Giardia test
because that specific test kit sometimes isn't on hand.

that may be a regional thing. around here, it's so common that it's the
first thing my vet tests for. probably because i live in farm country, and
a lot of the popular dog swimming areas are rivers that run through the
farms.

If you ask the vet for something to pick up poop sample, they'll give it
to you. I have a spare one or two rattling around somewhere just in
case I need to drop off a fresh poop sample at the vet. Thankfully,
Khan's easy - he always poops if I take him anywhere with lots of dog
smells, like at the vet.

I just use cleaned pill bottles.

That's what it looks like. Except the cap has a long tube thing
attached to it, and the poop is picked up in that. The whole thing is
sterile, and there is no need to touch the poop, a major plus in my book.

Use a vinyl or latex exam glove (a lot of people have them now at home for
one reason or another. If not, you can buy them by the singles at hardware
stores).
Pick up the fecal material, then while still holding it in the fingers, turn
the glove inside out as though you are taking off the glove. Secure the
glove shut with a twisty.
