Hello,
my friend's cat had big nodes. Her local vet took them away and sent
them for analyze. They think it is "GIANT CELL TUMOR OF SOFT PARTS".
After less than a month, the nodes are back, quite small but slowly
growing and spreading. The vet is a bit confused and doesn't really
know what to do about it.
Help! The cat is only 6 years old.
What is this? Is there a treatment? Any tip?
Thank you for any help or information!

I'm so sorry to hear this.
From what the orthopedic vet told me who amputated Mushkins leg this is a
very aggressive cancer and it's hard to get all of it.
I have a 7 year old siamese mix who at her 3 year update for rabies vaccine
developed a giant cell tumor at the injection site about 8 weeks after her
rabies shot. We were very fortunate that I have a very pushy vet who rushed
the labs through for Mushkins and if she hadn't she might not have made it.
It seems that amputation is the preferred method if the cancer is in an
extremity but I don't know what type of treatment they can offer when it has
spread. I do know that when the orthopedist operated on Mushkins he told me
flat out that if it was into the pelvis that he would be putting her to
sleep that to bring her out of it live out her life and die naturally would
be cruel that this is very painful.
I wish I could offer something more. Hopefully the swelling isn't more
cancer.
