I've used both KV Vet  www.kvvet.com and Cal Vet
http://www.calvetsupply.com/ for several years. I order refrigerated
delivery of cat vaccines as well as other medications and have had
excellent service from both. The order takers are both knowledgeable
and polite on the phone.

Depending on what you're getting, a lot of the same meds are given to humans
just under a different name.
Maybe the local humane society could tell you of an online pet pharmacy.

Prescriptions may be able to be filled at the local pharmacy where they get
their meds in larger bulk than vets (meaning cheaper all around). What you
save in shipping charges and the face to face walk in the door service may
actually be worth it. Want to (maybe) save a buck or two but get your meds
through the mail, go ahead. My preference is to be able to ask questions of
my pharmacists or vet with meds in hand. Again, that's just my preference.

Apparently you haven't priced the arthritis medications for dogs.  I had my
local pharmacy price the drugs for me and they were twice what I could get
them for at a pharmacy that specializes in animal meds.

Out of all the places I have looked at http://www.medi-vet.com/ has the best
prices.

It might vary by type of medication.  While normally
inexpensive, Rocky's vet can't beat Safeway on the cost of
phenobarbital - they acknowledge this have have no problem with
phoning his prescription in.

Again, to me it's more than just about the money. I've seen screw ups with
on-line pharmacies. As a former former pharmacy tech I realize that
neighborhood pharmacies can screw up too, but it sure is a lot easier to fix
than thousands of miles away. Personal preference.

When you are looking at a one-time prescription, then the few extra
dollars may not matter. When you are looking at month after month for
the lifetime of the animal, it become a matter of hundreds if not
thousands of dollars.

Whether is be for myself, my child or my pet, I do not put a dollar amount
on what I personally see as a safety issue. I reiterate that this is my
personal preference.
