Can a dog get bloat if they haven't eaten a meal for 8 hours and had
very little water?

Absolutely.  It seems to happen more frequently in associated with
eating/drinking, but it can happen at any time, with no apparent reason.

Yup.

Yes.  I lost my bloodhound last year... no food or water for hours..... he
just bloated... no torsion tho.  Unfortunately, the ER vet was a total idiot
and did not even try to decompress him..... the only way to stop his
suffering was to euthanize my dog.  Bloat with treatment isn't guaranteed...
but this jerk didn't even try.
It's a scary horrible illness.
