my 11 yr old cat has developed a nasty red rash where her collar was.
it started out 2 weeks ago in one spot so I put some "triple antibiotic
cream" on it. and removed her collar.
the fur around the "collar place" has been rubbed off and now the rash
has spread.
what cd it be?

It sounds like an allergic reaction to something. This irritates the cat
who then rubs or scratches it. I would take the cat to the vet for
further examnination.

it was NOT a flea collar.
just ordinary 1/4 inch microfiber collar.
i've stopped putting on the AB cream for several days.
it looked like it was drying up-but it has a NEW scratch where the
original one was.

Just wondering. Cats can have reactions to regular collars as well. If it
doesn't clear up, take her to the vet and get a skin scraping done.

my cat can't wear a collar for the same reason.... the hair also falls out
when I apply Advantage. No other reaction than just the hair falling out..
thank goodness!
