I don't mean to sound harsh here ...but come on...we need a lot more info...

what was the diagnosis of disk disease, where was the lesion (what disk space), how was the lesion diagnosed
what surgical proceedure was performed?, was it a neurologist, boarded surgeon, or other DVM? that cut it?
What was the dogs ambulatory status before sugery, how long was he this way, how did it progress.  Where there
any other disease that this dog currently suffered from, what type of monitoring equipment was used during anesthesia
who anesthetized the dog. Any medications, any concurrent disease? any other neurologic disorder in the dog.
Was the cranial nerve exam normal, what were the results of the neuro exam. What did the dogs blood work look
like? was there any surgical complications. was there any infection in the dog at the time of surgery.  Were fluids
administered during surgery.

answer that and you can start to get some answers ....

This is not a veterinarian posting a concern here. Relax and understand that
not all pet owners have the medical records in front of them when they post
and also have such a technical understanding of them that they can post what
you wanted. Relax...
