Help - Blockage in Dog

I need help! My dog is unable to eliminate and I can feel something
hard in her intestines when I press down. We had corn on the cob the
other day and we're terribly afraid that she went into the garbage to
get one (we've never actually seen her do this before so it's only a
slim possibility that it's a cob).

Our dog is whimpering around trying to 'go' but is just not able to get
it done. As a result she is just laying around saddened.

We are taking her to the emergency vet this evening because our regular
vet is booked solid today. Does anyone know what the costs are for
getting a dog x-ray'd for such a problem, and surgery if needed?

Any help would sure be appreciated! Claire.

I had a similar thing happen a month ago.
With many more complications, but a blockage WAS involved.
If it's a blockage ..it needs a vet NOW.
Emergency vets are more expensive, find someone or a specialist who will
take her NOW.
My puppy swallowed a chicken wing. the whole ordeal ended up  with a
perforation of the intestine, resulting in peritonitis, and as a result,
the omentum (membrane encasing the intestines) reacted, trying to plug the
hole, resulting in omentum plastering itself all over the intestines so
tightly that this resulted in intestinal blockage due to adhesions.
My puppy had tissue death, septic peritonitis,  intestinal intusseption,
requiring intestinal resection.
Because of complications, We used an equity loan on the house to pay the
bill.  With nocomplications, as I figured the bill, plus the time.. I'd
guess around $3K. (assuming you are in the US)
Goodluck! I hope it turns out not serious.

This is serious, and cannot wait!
Many dogs have suffered and, in some cases, died after eating a corn
cob, when the corn cob caused partial or complete intestinal
obstruction.
