this guy is a 12 year old mixed breed neutered male at a local shelter. he's listed as a boxer/dalmatian. i think he looks like a pit mix, personally. anyway, i'm planning on adopting him (would have been today if the weather weren't so bad). i'll get him to the vet after i get him, but i just wanted to post these pictures to see if anybody had any thoughts on what this might be, and what you'd be looking to rule out. he's got very thin hair and balding, kinda scaly skin just on the dark-colored patches on his sides and hind end. the white hair looks totally normal. <http://shattering.org/images/baltoskin.jpg> <http://shattering.org/images/baltoskin2.jpg> this is what he looks like from the front <http://shattering.org/images/balto3.jpg> thanks! -- And now, each night I count the stars. I don't know what would affect hair depending on color. Has he been in the shelter long? Looks pretty good for a 12 yr old! he's definitely bald/scaly on the dark places and has hair on the white. it doesn't show in the pictures as well as it does in person. it's weird. i'm not sure how long he's been there. he's the victim of a divorce. how somebody could dump a 12 year old dog is beyond me. -- And now, each night I count the stars. He may just be stressed out. When you get your hands on him try adding salmon oil to his food. Sad that dogs get tossed out at that age. But if he's found a home with you, then he's lucky. buglady take out the dog before replying |
