I know that the canned foods weren't part of the recall, but I just wanted
to check if anyone is feeding it to their cats again.

Based on a suggestion here, I'm thinking of giving my cat the venison or
duck formulas as it's easier to get to a Petco than one of the specialty
stores that sell Evo or California Natural (which also have the venison
formula).

As I stated in previous posts, I have been feeding my cat the NB venison and
peas canned food with no problems.  The canned food was never an issue with
the recall.  Just the venison dry food.  NB has stopped making the venison
and peas dry food.  They have now started making, in addition to the venison
canned, duck and peas both canned and dry.  I have not tried the duck foods
yet but plan to.  I feel pretty comfortable feeding my cats the NB.

Thanks.  I posted this message before you answered the other one.

One other question - how small are the individual dry food nibbles?
I try to buy my cat dry food that is as small as possible (similar to
Purina Pro Plan dry food size) as it's easier for her to crunch.  She lost
many of her small teeth as a young cat (before I adopted her).

It's been a while since I had the NB dry food (venison was recalled in
March/April and it hasn't been on the shelves since) so I don't remember
exactly how big the kibble is.  But I don't recall it being real big.

Ok.  Once again thanks for the info.  According to their website, this is
their special allergy formula.  Wouldn't it be great if Pro Plan and some
of the other manufacturers followed suit, and made an OTC product that is
closer to the Hills Prescription Diet formulation?

I found the link for the Green Peas and Duck

Do you think it matters that the 2nd ingredient is Duck Meal?

I don't it matters that it is duck meal.  The venison dry contained venison
meal.  I don't think that the meal is a grain....I think they just take the
duck (all parts of it, unfortunately) and grind it really fine.

Yes, I wish more OTC manufacturers made foods like the stuff you can only
get from your vet.  It would make life much easier.

Let me know if you try the duck and peas and if your cat likes it.
