She is probably referring to Revolution. I've been using it for
several years with great success. It's a little more expensive than
Advantage but heartworms are a concern in this part of the country.
Here are the claims made by the manufacturer:
Kills adult fleas, flea eggs and flea larvae in the environment
Treats, controls and prevents flea infestations
Prevents heartworm disease
Controls flea allergy dermatitis
Treats and controls ear mites
Treats and controls sarcoptic mange in dogs
Controls roundworms and hookworms in cats
Easy monthly application
Waterproof after 2 hours
Contains Selemectin

.......I don't think any of these heartworm Plus products totally eliminates
worms. I no longer remember what the percentage is, but one could check the
CVM site of FDA and look at the studies.

But Revolution does not take care of tapeworms. Profender takes care of
larval and adult stages of round, hook and tapeworms.

Piggy backing on my own post.... ee gads.
There is also Advantage Multi which takes care of heartworm, Fleas, hooks
and rounds. Also treatment and control of ear mites.

As for Revolution, we've had poor results including one of our vets who
applied it religiously after negHW tests and dog still got hearworm. We're
phasing it out. Most of our clients go with Advantage or Frontline products
(1 and 2 respectively) and pills or iquid for worms. Profender is very new
to the US but it's been handy for our clients who want to treat rascally
cats, barn cats and ferrels they're working with.
