Hi. first post hear, hope someone can help
My 9 year old cocker woke me as usual this am but I was hear some loud
intestinal sound coming from him. I had to get up earlier in the night
(around 4am) to
let him out which is unusual. I checked his defication from what I think was
done at 4am and it looked normal. He did get into the kitchen trash
yesterday and I think ate some spicey stuff I hadnt finished. Right now he's
out eating grass. I am with holding his food for now. I think he is drinking
ok
For the most part he's a really healthy and active dog, he does have hip
displasia but doesnt really bother him. I feed him Hills JD dry food and I
think it helps.
thanks for any suggestions
John

......My guess is by now you've seen some loose stools!  I bet it's just
digestive upset.  Is the dog acting sick at all?  If not, I'd go ahead and
feed a normal meal at the regular time.

Hello John,
Your dog is probably suffering from "garbage gut syndrome".  I usually
recommend that cocker-sized dogs 25-35# be given a 10 mg. Pepcid AC once a
day for the stomach upset, and if he develops diarrhea, give him 1/2 tab. of
Imodium (Loperamide 2 mg. tablet).  Feed him a bland diet for a day or so
until his bowels are back to normal.  Boiled rice with a small amount of
cooked hamburger, chicken, turkey or lamb to flavor the rice would be fine.
Also low-fat cottage cheese or plain or vanilla yogurt is good for their
g.i. tract.  If he develops bloody diarrhea or repeated vomiting, consult a
veterinarian because he could be developing pancreatitis.  Good luck!

I'll
try a little normal food tonight. I need to get a cover for
my kitchen trash can. Thats some good advise I will keep it for future
