Believe it or not, there is a fast way to poison your dog over time
with commercial dog food. I wrote about this on my blog recently, and
I recommend a great site that goes through the do's and don'ts with
commercial dog food. I hope this helps!

Y'know. If I could design a filter that deletes any message with the
word blogspot in it, I'd be a happy camper. I've filtered out messages
from anyone with gmail in their address on other groups; guess it's time
to do that here as well....

(And I won't even try to guess why this author is so dumb that they
think pet food has never been discussed here before, yeesh).

I could easily do that with either Leafnode (which I use to download
newsgroups) or Gnus (which I use to read them).

They are spammers.  They don't care and they never read the newsgroups they
spam.  A few lost souls will have clicked on the clicky and visited the
site.  A few of them might have clicked on the Google ads on the site
and/or downloaded some of the malware sure to be found there.  That's
enough to make it profitable to devote a bot to posting this crap.  Google
could put it stop to it but they don't care either.

Oh, I know they are spammers and most likely won't return to read
comments. (Although on some of the groups I'm on, the people come back
and actually try to defend their spamming). I was just venting. Oh, and
I want to add "dontplayplay" to my filter list.

I've just been using Thunderbird for both email and newsgroups, but
think it may be time to look into something else for better filters on
the groups. Thanks for the recommendations. Although, sadly most of the
newsgroups I frequent have dwindled to a mere shadow of their former
selves and can go for days without any legitimate posts.

......sigh.......yeah, sad but true.  Most people hang out in moderated
groups now.
