Hi Sandy - I just wanted to let you know everything checked out at the
vet today. Nothing concerning about her Runny Nose.
Her Liver Enzymes dropped 10-15% from her last check a month ago - she
was on a mix of Vitamines and Milk Thistle. The vet wasn't concerned,
and asked that she come back in 6-8 weeks for another CBC Check.
My question is , what causes elevated Liver Enzymes in these little
guys? Is it diet/weight attributed? Age? Activity Levels?
Just wondering what I can do on my end to keep all the levels at bay!
Thanks Sandy!

Wonder why it is that you have to come to newsgroups to get your
questions answered. What are you paying your vet for if he is not taking
time to answer your questions. Or is he/she like most vets-not properly
spending requisite time with their patients and/or not knowledgeable
enough to answer questions?

Some of us like to go the extra mile and be as knowledgeable as
possible. This newsgroup can be a great resource.

It's great that your pup is doing OK.
Liver enzymes can be increased by a large number of problems. Usually,
multiple tests are required to figure out the real problem. Abdominal
ultrasound and liver biopsy are the basic tests needed, plus there are
others that are sometimes required. Causes of elevated liver enzymes can
be cancer, inflammatory disease, infection, etc., etc., etc. What your
doing is OK, but it's non-specific. Milk thistle only gives the liver a
way to help it heal itself. It's not a true treatment of a problem. It's
great that it's helping a little, though.
