Some time ago I took my 6-year old cat to see the vet because he
was sneezing blood. I was told he probably had an ulcer in his nose.
He was given antibiotics and a cortisone shot, which seemed to
clear up the problem.

I was also told that the nose ulcer isn't really a problem as long as
it can be treated and the blood loss can be stopped.

Now he's doing it again and I guess what I'd like is a sort of second
opinion.

Does the ulcer explaination sound like it's a good one? Could it be
something worse?

Thanks in advance,

You might consider bringing him in for a reexam or asking for the name of
a board-certified internist in your area...

there are a lot of causes of nasal bleeding. The scariest ones that leap
to mind are cancer and fungal infections. or he could have snorted
something up there. Or...

It also might be feline herpesvirus, which is really easy to clear up with
L-lysine. My friends have a cat that sneezes blood, but if she is given
500ml's of L-lysine each day, the sneezing is non-existent. L-lysine does
not kill the herpes virus, but keeps it from replicating. It has no taste or
odor. Add 250ml's in the morning canned food, and the remaining 250ml's in
the evening canned food.  In about 4 to 5 days, the sneezing will of
stopped....if this is feline herpesvirus. Carol
