I have a mix breed terrior, female, 8 years old that has started to
bleed.  It seems to happen when she gets excited, numerous large drops
of blood, some clotted, are all over floor. She also is very sensitive
in her hind area now. The vet diagnosed her problem as a urinary
infection (?) and gave us antibiotics. There has been no change in her
condition. If anything it is getting worse. I subsquently discovered
that she has a history of bladder stones. She had an operation about 5
years ago in which bladder stones, 1 the size of an egg, were removed.
I fear that she has either sever bladder stone problem once again or
something more serious.

Any comments or suggestions are very welcome

A simple X-ray will diagnose the stones.  (As someone with a history of
kidney\bladder stones I can tell you they hurt like hell.) Ask your Vet to
do an X-ray.

Well, a "simple" x-ray will diagnose the stones if they are one of the types
that shows up on an xray.  But unfortunately not all stones show up on an
xray.  An ultrasound would be even better.

I would get her to the vet asap. Tell him/her about the stone history.
Bladder stones can keep reaccuring especially if she is not on a
prescription food to prevent stone formation.    Mary Ellen
