How much gravel?20 Nov 2003 01:25 GMT3
Hello people.  I recently found this newsgroup and I  have a question for
you.  About ten years ago i had a 10 gallon freshwater aquarium and just
recently I've decided to get back into it.  I've bought a 33 gallon starter
kit.
Gold Fish20 Nov 2003 01:15 GMT2
I have a couple of goldfish 1,5-2 inch long and a couple of catfish 0.75
inch long in a 135 litre aquarium which is filtered by Eheim professional II
2026. Looks a little empty in the aquarium.
Is there any other types of cold water fish that I can introduce into the
Dwarf frogs not lasting19 Nov 2003 22:33 GMT4
I really like African dwarf frogs, and have tried keeping them several
times.  Every time, they greedily ate their bloodworms for the first
little while, but they rarely survived more than a few weeks.  I have
no dry "get out of the water" area in my tank, but I don't know if

Can anybody recommend any UK online stores who provide tanks and filters etc
at good prices.

Clown loaches eating plants19 Nov 2003 11:57 GMT3
I thought I'd get some plants for my aquarium since it was looking rather
dull, but all the plants I have introduced have either been nibbled into
non-existance or are always being uprooted by my 3 clown loaches, they're a
mischeivous lot, and I don't know what to do.  Are there any ...
First fatality :-(19 Nov 2003 11:49 GMT6
I'm new here, and to fishkeeping.
I have a freshwater tropical tank (36" - approx 28 UK gallons) which has
been set up and running for almost three months now.
It has a few live plants, a piece of bogwood and a hollowed-out rock. The
Angelfish is making sounds19 Nov 2003 05:37 GMT1
One of my two Angelfish is making sounds at the other one. Does this mean
anything? Has it to do with mating?
Starting over19 Nov 2003 05:11 GMT2
I had been breeding Orange Chromide cichlids and had a 45G containing a
breeding pair and about 25 of their offspring (about 7 or 8  months old).
They were doing really well until last week when suddenly they started to
die at a very fast rate and in 4 days they were all gone ...

Biological Filter Question18 Nov 2003 15:55 GMT4
I don't know if anyone is in a position to answer this question accurately:
I know that bacteria that makes up the biological filter resides mostly in
the tank filter. This is because the "good" bacteria needs lots of oxygen
and does not generally live free floating in the water.
fresh vs. salt18 Nov 2003 11:57 GMT9
CAn anyone tell me what the difference is between salt and fresh water. I am
curious to know the difference's in equipment only, I understand the care
and maintance will be different, but what are the equipment differences ?
Thanks.
Algae18 Nov 2003 10:38 GMT4
After, vacuuming the tank, and expelling 30 gallons,
water, and refilling a 55 gal tank,
1 week later, getting brownish coating, on rocks,
and now getting some green coating on some rocks.
Tank repairs18 Nov 2003 09:33 GMT3
I have had a 24x12x15" tank for a few years now ( 4? 5?) and its just
started to seep water which I think is due to contracting edge seals.  The
sealing compound is black, rather than clear, and the glass is set into
plastic guides rather than the usual glass:glass of an all-glass ...
Is my Betta normal?18 Nov 2003 04:01 GMT5
My Betta wiggles and flairs like mad when I wave to him from across the
room. I sometimes give him a little treat when he does this (one BioGold
pellet). I didn't know Bettas were so easily trained, or maybe he just has
me trained. Is this normal behavior for a fish?  --- John
