What the heck do snails eat?31 Dec 2003 21:05 GMT3
I "inherited" two, what I think are called, Apple snails. They are
large suckers, probably about 1" in diameter, and seem to be fairly
healthy after seeing the scumpond of a tank they were in before.
Anyway, they are happy crawling all over tank, and the babby fish are
Very sick weather loach31 Dec 2003 16:19 GMT1
Hi all. I recently returned from an eight day Christmas break to find
my weather loach looking extremely sick. It has developed a thick
furry white coating from just below it's head stretching about an inch
down it's body. It also has red inflamed areas along it's flank. The

Where do most people buy their fish?  We have one small tropical fish
store in town.  He is really good as far as healthy looking fish and
clean tanks, but he sells reptiles, birds and everything else too, so
his fish selection is very limited to say the least.  I found two more

It's that time again when the wife say's I can have a new tank (at last)

hua kolas..quick question regarding snails..I've been thinking of getting a
few snails to add to a 75 gallon freshwater community tank as well as a 55

($3.89 for 8 oz) and poly fiber sold for craft projects  ($1.89 for 20 oz.)
My plants grow very little30 Dec 2003 11:34 GMT4
I decided to purchase real plants. In the petstore they look so big and
lush.
After a few weeks in my tank they look sick. Only the tops of them grow, and
are not full of leaves. Does this mean they are missing something? I have a
Do fish sleep30 Dec 2003 11:14 GMT15
Today I found my angel upside down in the tank. I thought he was dead. I did
a quick 10% water change for the other fish and once I stirred up the water
he went upright and slowly started to swim around.
Too tranquil of a tank to promote schooling?30 Dec 2003 11:09 GMT8
I have a 120gal FW aqarium. It is about 6' long. What I wanted to achieve is
an aquarium of small fishes (<=2") that are schooling. Get fish that live in
various zones of the aqurium and watch their schools move about.
To this end I've added

adjusting pH of aquarium water29 Dec 2003 20:26 GMT6
I was wondering...why is sulfuric acid often used to lower the pH of
aquarium water? I thought that it would be more toxic than using something
like hydrochloric acid. Do the SO4 ions serve a purpose in the tank? Please
let me know. Also, does anyone know the concentration of ...

I have a friend with a fair size creek running through his property.  He
has netted all sorts of darters out of it and has also caught some fish
that look a lot like mollies but are orange in color.  At any rate, the
fish are small, and I am wondering if they are compatable with ...
