Can I buy plants online?08 Mar 2004 00:15 GMT1
Has anyone bought freshwater plants or fish online?  Does it work well?  The
fish stores in my area seem to be going downhill, so I am curious about this
avenue.
Thanks
inlet and outlet placement for canister filter?07 Mar 2004 23:19 GMT1
The filter in question is an eheim 2215 that I hope to receive by weds.
from big al's (if you read all the posts in this ng you know my story).
Should I put the inlet at one end and the outlet at the other end, or
should I put both in the middle? I will be using the stock spray ...
KH Test Kit - really needed?07 Mar 2004 23:09 GMT22
There is an article on www.oscarfish.com that advises a KH test kit is one
of the important test kit to own (along with ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH).
I was all set to buy one, but then I spotted some API pH Up (my pH tends to
be on the lower side) and was thinking about buying ...
Questions: Nitrate? Charcoal?07 Mar 2004 20:36 GMT2
What is the optimum level of nitrates to aim for, in a stable, heavily
planted tank with fish?
Second question: Compared to 20 years ago, a great deal of emphasis
today is placed on the role of bacteria in the water filtration process.
Bio-Wheels07 Mar 2004 20:32 GMT3
I just wondered what companies make Bio-Wheels?  Do Eheim make them?
What is the difference between an external canister filter and a
bio-wheel?  Is it just price?

I have noticed that the temp in my tank has risen to near 30 c, yet room

setup has been fine for about a year!
Nirtates in my Tank07 Mar 2004 17:47 GMT7
I have a 60 gallon tank with community type fish. I also have about 12 small
plants and maybe 20 small fish.  The tank is only about 6 weeks old.  My
Ammonia and Nitrites are at 0 and have been there for around 2 weeks. But my
Nitrates are around 50ppm.  Last night I changed out ...
One More Plant Fertilizer Question07 Mar 2004 17:21 GMT1
My LFS sold me Hagen Plant Grow spikes.  They claim that they will last 1
year after they are activated.  Anyway, the sticks contain phosphates: Here
are the contents:
Total Nitrogen: 16%
Feeding clown loaches07 Mar 2004 17:14 GMT10
I have three 2.5 " clowns, along with 3 angels and and 8 tiger barbs in
a 55 gal. The loaches don't show any interest in flake food, but I got
some frozen brine shrimp, and frozen blood worms, and they seem to like
those when they can get to them before the barbs eat it all. If I ...
A Planted Tank Question07 Mar 2004 16:16 GMT5
I have a heavily planted 55 gallon tank with (4) 32 watt T8 bulbs that is
not that old.  Two of the bulbs are full spectrum and the other two are
Coral plant lights.  Anyway, my plants seem to be doing ok.  I had one
species (not sure of the name) that turned a little yellow and ...
Shrimp In My Aquarium & Agression07 Mar 2004 12:47 GMT7
My tank finally cycled so I bought a few more fish.  Anyway, I bought a live
shrimp that is about 2 inches long.  He is very cool looking and I was told
by my LFS that he likes algae and may nibble on my plants a bit.  So far all
the fish are staying clear. My Parrot fish did nudged ...
mysterious itching07 Mar 2004 10:47 GMT5
Hi I have a question/concern.  My fish particularly the loaches and
platies are frequently scrathing the tops of their heads on objects in the
tank. I eradicated itch from the tank a month ago with salt, high heat, and
aquarisol. I didn't see spots for 2 weeks but the fish ...
life expectancy07 Mar 2004 10:46 GMT9

Glow-fish danios07 Mar 2004 03:02 GMT16
Well I saw my first glow fish yesterday, talk about a let down! After all the
hype I almost expected it to jump out and chew my leg off or something but it
was just a nice healthy slightly reddish looking zebra danio. No big deal at
all, keep crying wolf people, we'll have tiny ...
