Charcoal15 Aug 2004 15:59 GMT6
After many months of reading a few posts saying charcoal is not needed
for tank health except under certain circumstances, I have removed
charcoal from all my tanks over a month ago.  What finally tipped the
scale was the discovery that I couldn't clean the cartridges with the

I have a quick question,  I bought an aquarium 2nd hand,  and when I went to
rinse it out a lot of soap bubbles formed from the residue that was in the

Any recommendations?

NO3 Levels out of controll14 Aug 2004 13:42 GMT3
I have a 40g. Long tank, and due to a new job and busted arm I've missed
a few water changes.  Lo and behold I now have a high level of NO3.  I
know that I could do a 100% water change over the course of 3 days (50,
25,25) and this would solve the problem.

I have a Blue Gameboy Advance SP with a EFA 256mb Flash cartrige, used for
playing "Backup" games, can load about 6 games into the cartrige. There is
also an SNES Emulator for the Gameboy Advance that will allow you to play
your old school NES and SNES games on it.

ich?13 Aug 2004 10:40 GMT2
I recently noticed one of my columbian tetras had a single white spot
on his fin. I was concerned it was the beginning of ich.  None of the
other fish had any traces of white spots on them.  I quarenteened the
"infected" tetra and now, 3 days later, all the other fish are still
Replacement hinge for my hood13 Aug 2004 05:22 GMT2
I have a three year old 46 gallon bow-front freshwater tank with a
glass hood.  The last time I cleaned the tank, the hood hinge broke.
It seems silly to buy a new hood when all I need is 35" of what seems
to be a pretty generic snap-on plastic hinge.  Where can I find such
