anitbiotics21 Sep 2004 01:40 GMT4
If I were to get a "general" purpose antibiotic from my vet for fish what
should I get. I have melafix, myxazin and protozin in my cupboard for
tattered fins, pop-eye and whitespot treatments respectively.  However, when
something stronger is required to combat dropsy for example - ...
Tank type and size21 Sep 2004 01:14 GMT5
Could anyone recommend a tank suitable for 4 subunkins, 2 golden orfes, 2
comets, 2 weather loaches, and a tench.
These are all young (hence small) fish, and it would be just for the winter

Black on my fish?20 Sep 2004 22:50 GMT6
First, I'd like to say that it's nice to have a place for us newbies to ask
silly questions and get great answers.  Most of my fish have a black
coloring down the front of their heads.  I wasn't sure if they were like
this when I bought them or not (because it wasn't something I was ...
ARGH! Hard to read ammonia test!20 Sep 2004 21:58 GMT8
Does anyone use the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Ammonia test?  I got the
Maste rKit and I'm having a horrible time with the Ammonia test so far
- basically, my tap water is at LEAST 1 ppm.  Brita water is at LEAST
1ppm.  I put a bunch of Ammonia (well, bunch of drops) into the
Any idea what sort of shrimp this is?20 Sep 2004 17:34 GMT2
The LFS has a "mystery shrimp" that is similar in build to a ghost
shrimp, but it has red spots (Especially on its tail fan), and red
bands on its front claws.  Any idea what kind it is, and if it would
get along with Amano shrimp?  Thanks!
Tetraeasybalance.20 Sep 2004 17:31 GMT11
Hi,anyone used the above water treatment. It is made by
a company called TetraAqua.I already use their safe water
treatment, but they claim adding Easybalance means you
don't do any water changes for at least 6 month intervals.
I got two Bettas ???19 Sep 2004 03:12 GMT3
I got two female bettas yesterday.  They stayed with each other at first
without any problems.  This morning things have changed.  The blue one is
picking on the teal one.  Now the teal one is very stressed.  She has the
vertical lines and seems to have lost a little color too.  ...
guppies19 Sep 2004 02:50 GMT8
I've added guppies in my 46g corner tank for about 2 months ago, along with
mollies and swordtails and
they care getting along very peacefully.
Regarding the guppies though, 4 males and 2 females, both of my females look
fishless cycling problems18 Sep 2004 17:54 GMT8
I've been fishless cycling two freshwater tanks (10G, 6G) for almost four
weeks now. I hadn't seeded either tank, so about two weeks ago or so I put
Bio-Spira in both tanks and immediately saw nitrites. Since that time
ammonia levels have dropped in both tanks to 0.0. However, ...
Getting Started18 Sep 2004 14:56 GMT2

correct reading of pH test18 Sep 2004 13:30 GMT3
Hi, new here
Here's the scenario: After checking pH levels, if I don't immediately rinse
out the beaker, the color will change after a few minutes. More
specifically, what was initially read as pH 7.4 will read as 7.8 after
white cloudy 90g18 Sep 2004 12:28 GMT2

Suggestions for a better heater18 Sep 2004 08:03 GMT8
Hi Gang:
When I put my tank together, I just bought a basic 100w heater, ya know the old dial type heaters. Well this is all fine and well but I see 4-6 degree changes in the temp alot (so far they have been to the plus side so I've been lucky. The temp stays between 76 and 82 ...
gill problem?18 Sep 2004 04:39 GMT1
I have a tinfoil barb-probably 2.5 inches-has a gill that doesn't lay
like a flap but sticks out at a right angle-exposes a lot of red
tissue underneath.  The other gill looks fine.
Never saw this before with other fish or with the other TF's.  Any
neon tetras17 Sep 2004 23:05 GMT6
i read they are from the amazon river in Peru. I know that some fish
like glass cats have never been bred in captivity. I presume neons are
bred by breeders, or are they like the glass cats caught in the wild.
anyone know?
