Number of feedings31 Jan 2005 14:17 GMT12
I was shocked to hear that some people feed their fish 5-6 times a day.
I feed my fish only once per day.  Is this too little?  I don't loose
fish and am able to raise fry. My fish don't grow rapidly, but I don't
think I'm stunting their growth.  I could possibly add an additional

Sick angelfish31 Jan 2005 00:32 GMT4
I've got an angelfish (pterophyllum scalare) who doesn't look very happy
right now: damaged fins with bloody streaks on them and around the body (at
the base of the fins), black specks (seems like Ick, but black), and the
fish seems very thin, being very small in comparison to ...

Hi All!
I have some problem in my aquarium that seems to affect my plants.
Plants either turn brown with some algae and rot or loose their

whilst my male dwarf gourami was in the breeding tank, I added a pair of

When is a tank cycled?29 Jan 2005 13:05 GMT8
QUESTIONS:
When is a tank considered cycled?  - When Ammonia and Nitrites drop to
zero and Nitrates are climbing, or does the Nitrates have to achieve a
specific target PPM first?
Thanks for the help - tank update.29 Jan 2005 12:33 GMT1
Setup my cichlid tank a few months back with the help of lots of experienced
fish keepers on these groups.
Just to let you know, been a super smooth ride so far - only had one small

Recommended Filtration for an Oscar (cross posted)28 Jan 2005 22:32 GMT1
I'm looking for a more powerful filtration system for my 55 gal Oscar
tank.  Although I vacuum and do partial water changes every 5 days or
so, I find my current bio-wheel filters to be inadequate.  I did, at one
time, have an UGF in the tank but did not like it.  I could not ...

Is there one? I always thought it was around the 80F mark... give or take a

temperature, or do some prefer it warmer than others?
Right now, I don't have any fish as I'm still trying to get my heater to
