Buyiny Filtered Water From Shops?29 May 2005 13:59 GMT24
Hi, could someone please tell me about the water that you can buy from
aquarium shops. Is it RO filtered or something else, and what do you have to
add to it to make it safe for fish and plants. And how much does it cost?
The reason that I am interested in starting to use it is ...
How much rock can the bottom glass handle?....29 May 2005 09:03 GMT8
I'm wondering... for those of you who have used rock extensively, how
much rock can I safely place on the bottom of my 125g glass tank?
I want to pile rock up against one corner to a height of about 8",
sloping down to level over a 24" spread.  Can the bottom handle this?

Rasboras, *.aquaria.*27 May 2005 13:44 GMT5
After several years of dry tank (for a combination of reasons) I'm
filled up again to provide the Harlequin Rasboras from my wife's biology
teaching room a place to live over the summer while the building is
remodeled. Years ago I made semi-serious attempts to get R. Heteromorpha ...
Wish my fish luck27 May 2005 09:04 GMT1
Moving tomorrow, only a short way tough.
My plan is to switch all off, drain half the water into a big bucket
(normally used during water changes), removing the plants etc and then
catching and moving fish into this temp tank. Tape a bin bag over the top
Disaster has struck26 May 2005 19:25 GMT6
Just venting here.
Got a call at work yesterday from my daughter letting me know our 72 gallon
bow front reef system was leaking water all over the carpet. I pretty much
thought it was a poor plumbing job on my part when I hooked in the UV
Looking for a 5-7gallon tank26 May 2005 15:28 GMT11
Just thought I'd ask but are there any members here, from the UK, that would
be willing to sell, or have a tank to sell?
I need to for a betta and soon.
I've been looking on ebay, but not many on there.
beta fish howls at me?26 May 2005 14:58 GMT3
I am caring for a friends beta while she is off the island for the summer.
She warned me that he flares up if you dont change his water weekly. He was
flaring at me (as if he seen a male beta) when I put my face up to it, so I
changed the water, it had been 7 or 8 days. Now he is ...
Eheim question26 May 2005 04:55 GMT5
I've got an old Eheim 2213 that I'm using on a 10 gallon tank with
goldfish. I've noticed that the water flow has really cut down a lot
lately. I took the filter apart and cleaned it, and it was fine for
about a week, then it's back to the slow water flow. I know it can't be
Salt water Set up26 May 2005 02:42 GMT2

concerning substrate for salt tanks that say that play sand can be used

that it holds alot of nirate....
Breeding Dragonflies25 May 2005 23:47 GMT7
Is it possible to breed dragonflies in an aquarium?
My area has a lot of mosquitoes but very little dragonflies. (One reason is
the regular thermal fogging that takes place in our neighborhood by
shortsighted govt officials) I thought of breeding the DFs in my apartment
Adult Angelfish Wanted25 May 2005 23:37 GMT1
Does anyone have any suggestions where I can obtain an adult female
angelfish? My male looks desperately lonely after his breeding partner
had to be put to sleep after a lump grew so large that it finally
crippled her. The only thing I can think of is phoning every Maidenhead
Clown Loaches - Wasting Illness?25 May 2005 20:43 GMT8
I have a large, healthy community tank, which normally presents no problems.
However, several attempts to introduce clown loaches have failed.   They
gradually succumb to illness, which picks them off one by one (typically I'd
lose a new shoal of 4-6 fish within 4-6m).
