Ammonia Hell, HELP!!!30 Jul 2006 22:28 GMT10
I had a 55 gallon tank set up at the beginning of this year... I got a
whole bunch of plants and some fish. Everything seemed to go smooth
with the usual algea that disappeared after a while when I started
adding CO2 and fertilizing with K and Micronutrients.
inhabitant for 4 gallon tank?30 Jul 2006 21:51 GMT8
Hello all, I have a 4 gallon tank that I'm trying to figure what to
do with.  It is an old All-Glass "Designer" aquarium that I bought when
I was a child and didn't know better.  This tank is very odd, being a
rectangle that stands on one of the small ends, so there's very little
HELP!! A gift for my girlfriend30 Jul 2006 21:37 GMT9
In advance, thanks for your help. I've been through the internet and at
the pet store and all I've gotten is more confused. Ideally, i've been
looking to get pet fish for my girlfriends apt. I don't want betas
because you can only have one in a tank, or goldfish because ive had a

best websites for freshwater aquarium26 Jul 2006 14:59 GMT10
Been away from fish keeping for 25+ years. Google's hits were overkill.
Being "old school," well, certainly OLD, I came to USENET.
Anyone care to offer their favorite sites?

I have a community tank where my 8 month old pair of angels are the proud
parents of 100+ fry.  I don't know if they'll make it, but the parental
units are doing a great job, and I've removed the other residents of the
tank.  They hatched last Thursday and are now swimming (or I ...
eggbound betta25 Jul 2006 22:59 GMT3
I've asked about this before, early July.  I have a female
Betta who is eggbound.  She is very "fat" and it looks like
an egg is partially out, and it's been that way for almost 2
months.
Too Hot For Tropicals22 Jul 2006 21:24 GMT10
After loosing a few fish in the summer of 2003 I've now got a reliable
routine for keeping the fish cool. I leave the tank flaps up and let a
fan play softly over the water. Simple, but yesterday my tanks didn't go
above 79 degrees F all day.
Relocating a tank22 Jul 2006 21:20 GMT4
My wife and I are moving and our tank is coming with us.
I think I have this sorted.  Empty the tank, fish go into bags, everything
else, well that gets packed (probably in buckets).  Save half of the water.
Relocate everything.  Get the substrate, then plants, filter and suchlike ...
Synodontis sizes22 Jul 2006 18:05 GMT4
I have a pair of Synodontis catfish in a community tank. I don't know the
precise species because the supplier didn't either, and lots of research
has only told me which Synos they're *not* :-)
My question is this: is it normal and healthy for there to be a dramatic
ClorAm-X22 Jul 2006 03:47 GMT1
Ok, it's been awhile since I have posted but once again I'm seeking info
here that I can't find elsewhere. This is my dilemma. I was long time user
of Amquel but can only find Amquel+ now. I'm switching over to ClorAm-X dry
powder but don't have a clue as to how to use it best. I ...
Best Web Site Resource for Marine Aquariums21 Jul 2006 13:29 GMT4
I see the freshwater thread going so I thought I'd start a salt.  I had a
salt tank years ago and am getting ready to switch back from fresh back to
salt.  Last time I had a UV sterilizer, undergravel filter and had a lot of
luck until I get hit with black ick.  Started over and ...

Rubber gloves for cleaning?19 Jul 2006 07:35 GMT6
It is ok to wear rubber gloves (the type you use for dishwashing) for
cleaning an aquarium or fish tank? The gloves are new (not used in
detergent), and I've rinsed it under water for about 5 minutes. But I'd
just like to know if it is ok.
Beat the Heat TOO MUCH!19 Jul 2006 07:33 GMT2
Hi all and hope some of you may recall my topic "Beating the Heat" in
which I worried about the high temps our tanks were getting at with
this summer temperatures.
Took your advice and used the fan method, which worked...too well,
