Eternal filter question31 Dec 2006 16:28 GMT3
I've just added (yesterday) an external to my 190L Jewel tanks. the tank
usually has, as well as the standard jewel corner filter, a fluval 4+
filter. At the moment they are all running, inc the external one.
Can I take out the fluval? Is there enough biological filter material in ...

Would a couple of Nandopsis salvini be ok to put in my established Malawi
tank?
How to sterilize tank28 Dec 2006 14:50 GMT5
I have decided to remove all fish from my snail infested tank and serilize
it. What is the best way to sterilize it, IE kill all of the snails? The
copper based solutions they sell at the pet stores does not do squat. I need
something that is easily available and works. Can I ...
Simple way to get benefits of peat without the mess26 Dec 2006 15:42 GMT2
Peat (a.k.a. peat moss) does all kinds of nice things to planted aquariums,
or any aquarium that wants soft, slightly acidic water. However, getting
peat into the tank without filling it with clouds of black particles, and a
fine layer of black debris is tough. Here's how I do it ...
White marks on glass.24 Dec 2006 10:23 GMT3
I have some brown and green algae on the glass which is fine - it keeps the
otto and Siameese algae eater busy.  But recently some white transparent
blotches appearing.  Water chemistry is fine.  Any ideas?
Juwell Multilux Lighting Repair / Ballast replacement.19 Dec 2006 16:39 GMT10
Hi all, this is the first time that I have posted in this group so I
hope that someone can help me or at least point me in the right
direction. I currently have a Juwel Trigon 350 tank housing tropicals.
I have just got to the stage where my CO2 and lighting regime have

I am not very familiar with this newsgroup, and if this subject
is off-topic, then I apologize.
Some of you may be familiar with the problems that pretty much
destroyed rec.ponds during the past 2 years.
Juwel Multilux - repairable?18 Dec 2006 15:50 GMT1
My Juwel Multilux 100 lighting unit just failed after 6 months (the tubes
and plug fuse are OK) The supplier has agreed to replace it under warranty
but can't promise to get a new one before the New Year. I've rigged up
emergency lighting for now by replacing the whole hood with ...
Fluval 304 vs 305?17 Dec 2006 14:49 GMT2
Does anyone have both of these models or have actually seen them side
by side?
I have heard a few things...that people visually thought they were
pretty much the same but could someone tell me more precisely the
disappearance of fish16 Dec 2006 00:34 GMT4
We inherited a 113 litre tank from friends who emigrated a year ago.
Along with it came 3 clown loaches (the male is enormous - about 7"),
one red tailed shark, and 2 plecs and a shoal of neons. The small shoal
of neons disappeared over a couple of weeks earlier this year, along
Clown loach needs new home (Watford UK)12 Dec 2006 03:39 GMT5
I have one clown loach that needs a new home, preferably with some other
clown loaches. I used to have two but the big one died a couple of
months ago and I've decided the little one has to go too (clown loaches
and planted tanks seem like a bad combination). By "little" I mean ...
Secrets the Pet Stores Don't Want You to Know08 Dec 2006 13:42 GMT2
Many pet stores unfortunately just see the money involved and couldn't
care less about the animals they sell. That's why they cram bettas into
those tiny cups. More bettas in more tiny cups means more money for
them.

Tank size and liquid capacity06 Dec 2006 17:53 GMT2
I'm a beginner and need some help please!
I have two existing glass tanks (with clear silicone rubber joins) that I used
to keep scorpions in a long time ago (both tanks have since been cleaned and
sterilised).
