need help selecting a pet bird07 Mar 2004 23:52 GMT19
I am looking into getting a pet bird.  My alleriges and asthma have forced
me to give up my cat.
I want a bird that is lively, playful and intelligent, and interacts with
me.   My housemates says it can't be loud.
what is relationship between budgies and parakeets?07 Mar 2004 19:52 GMT2
I am looking into getting a bird, and the limited amount I'm finding online
has me confused.
I am reading that budgies and parakeets are teh same thing.  I am seeing
them treated as different kinds of birds.  One web site explained they are
Legal qustion about keeping a parrot07 Mar 2004 19:30 GMT28
We brought a Nanday Conure small parrot (weight 150 grams) some 6 months ago,
legally into Canada. The bird flew through the window into our apartment while
staying in Miami. Today, we are very much, attached to this lovely intelligent
bird, and it adopted us perfectly.

Hi everyone, it's been a long time since I posted here so it's fun to
be lurking again. Thought I would reintroduce myself since it has
literally been YEARS since I posted in rec.pets.birds.

I think Fruit Loop is getting "comfy"06 Mar 2004 20:18 GMT12
Is it a positive sign of a macaw becoming comfortable in her new home
environment when she begins coming down from her cage and spending time on
the floor waddling around and exploring around the house?
The past 3 days, Fruit Loop has been making forays into the kitchen while
Lovebird and temperatures06 Mar 2004 20:10 GMT7
I live in the mid-southern U.S.  This time of year (and in the Fall) when
the temperatures are in the 50's (Farenheit) at night, I like to sleep with
my windows open.  But I don't want Peaches to get cold.  I do cover her cage
at night.  Will she be fine with the cooler temp?  Or ...

Poppet Update & RE Pet Insurance06 Mar 2004 00:19 GMT3
Sorry it's been a while since i updated you on Poppet, but i'm pleased to
let you know that she is doing well.
It's still going to be a long recovery for her, but she's much more like her
oldself, although still a little unsteady, but seems to be about 90%, which
Bird boarder horror stories05 Mar 2004 19:08 GMT18
I boarded my sun conure, and when I came to pick him up, they tried to
give me the wrong bird.
Fortunately mine recognized me from across the room and started a ruckus.
I'm sure I would have noticed, but he noticed first.
MBD strikes again!05 Mar 2004 16:03 GMT8
MacDaddy has been driving my poor tiels absolutely crazy, so I finally went
out and picked up a little budgie buddy for him.
The new bird is very young, very adorable, and very scared.   Poor thing.  I
had to clip it's wings before even trying to get it into the cage, and I'm
Is basswood safe?05 Mar 2004 06:30 GMT2
I bought a bag of basswood scraps at Michael's craft store. Basswood
is used by wood carvers and for crafts. Do you think this has any
toxic chemical treatments in it? I made a ladder out of the scraps and
