For those who seem to think that ANY house. . .28 Feb 2005 16:11 GMT20
This is an open letter to all of you out there who seem to think that ANY
house can be made to be "bird safe."  The house that I am living in with
my Grandmother is at least 100 yrs old.  The interior walls are made out
of plaster and lathe construction.  When the house was made it ...
Parakeet Confusion28 Feb 2005 14:38 GMT7
I'm a bit confused about the best room in which to keep my
parakeets' cage.
I've had one of my birds for about 10 years. Her cage has always been
in the living room, and she's always been a healthy, happy bird. Not
Help with new parakeet28 Feb 2005 10:08 GMT52
I got a female parakeet last night. She's surprisingly tame already.
I know she is still adjusting to her new cage, but I have yet to see her
eat. Of course, this doesn't mean she hasn't but I'd like to make sure I
have proper dishes.

Forwarded Warning about Chilean Fruit for Birds27 Feb 2005 03:07 GMT1
Chilean fruit should be avoided generally since they use pesticides banned
in the USA.
This is from the 911 parrot alert list. These poor people lost 8 birds
after feeding grapes that came from Chili. While they cannot be 100%
Pellets26 Feb 2005 22:49 GMT12
Do you think the vets who currently recommend pellets would continue to
recommend that same pellet if there were no personal profit motive?
My argument for yes:
1.  The vet has a general awakening of the value of the ingredients in this
Teaching Conures to Talk25 Feb 2005 15:31 GMT4
My wife bought me my first bird this Christmas. A beautifull Sun Conure. I
have had a litte experience with this type of bird when I worked in a pet
store a few years ago. I just adore him. My question is this, is there an
average age when they are more prone to start talking? He ...
Chicks for life25 Feb 2005 12:28 GMT19
Hi, I am a great admirer of chicks (i.e. baby hens and roosters).
I find them much cuter and more docile than, say, canaries or
other types of birds normally kept as pets. Not only will they
not fly away (since they can't fly) but they will often follow
Info needed 'Tiels and termite extermination24 Feb 2005 07:47 GMT1
Has anyone had any experience with tenting / fumigating their house and
then bringing their precious birds back into the house?
My story goes like so:
I have 4 wonderful cockatiels (or should I say they have me). Recently
HELP: sick budgie what is it24 Feb 2005 00:38 GMT10
Help me my bird is going to die. I've had him to 2 vets but they can't
find what's wrong with him. There aren't any bird vets here just regular
small animal vets. He's taking antibiotics now but it's not helping him.
He was always small but I think he's lost weight. He chews his ...
Mel's multiple posts23 Feb 2005 22:37 GMT4
There is more to Mel's multiple messages than first meets the eye.
Why is it that each message has a different sender email return address?
It isn't possible to block the sender because each time one comes
through  it is slightly different from the previous one.
Cockatiel widower seeks widow, or old girl (Oakland, CA)23 Feb 2005 15:37 GMT1
We have 9 cockatiels. Luis (our 20-year-old) lost his wife (Yvonne)
last September; he is pining and has recently begun stalking another
couple. We are hoping to find Luis an old girl or widow cockatiel, in
her later years.
Parakeets are the life of the party23 Feb 2005 12:22 GMT14
I have a parakeet that talks, immitates laughter, coughing, and is
generally very tame. Recently I had my family over and they were
amazed that a parakeet could talk. They really make great pets. They
take up little very little  space, they can be a bit messy but
Online Pet Memorials23 Feb 2005 08:40 GMT2
I would like to offer our services to anyone who has recently lost a
pet.
Myself and a couple of animal loving friends, who have all lost pets in
the last year, had an idea of creating a website for people in a
